Hijiri Yahagi was born in Tokyo in 1989. At 19, she headed off to the United States to study. She now lives and works at her atelier in Gifu Prefecture.
During her four years in the United States, Hijiri devoted herself to creating massive art installations while studying modern art. In 2015, she left her native Tokyo for remote Gifu to pursue ceramic arts. She is now deeply engaged in crafting cups and other ceramic tableware while once again creating large art installations.
